Dear Manning Families,

I hope you are enjoying the long Labor Day weekend! How could it be that we’ve been back to school for nearly three weeks? As we begin our fourth week together, I continue to be proud of the way our students and community have come together to set the stage for a great school year.

Best of luck to our 6th graders as they head to Outdoor Lab this week! Students will depart on Tuesday, September 8, and return around midday on Friday, September 11. We’re confident they will have an incredible experience filled with learning, growth, and fun.

As we get deeper into the semester, we also know that illnesses abound. Please take a moment to review the How Sick Is Too Sick? resource. Your partnership plays an important role in keeping our community healthy. If your child contacts you to say they are not feeling well, we appreciate it if you ask them to go to our health room. It allows the front office staff to know who is leaving without calling your student out of class and disrupting instruction.

September is also School Attendance Awareness Month, making this a great time to highlight the importance of consistent attendance. Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% or more of the school year—approximately 18 days—for any reason. Even occasional absences, late arrivals, or missed instructional time can make it more difficult for students to stay caught up with learning.

Thank you for partnering with us to help your student attend school regularly, consistently, and on time. Every day matters!

We are also continuing to fine-tune our parking lot flow. Please help us by keeping the “hug and go” zones moving, pulling forward as space allows. This is especially important in the afternoon, when traffic in the north lane tends to back up onto 32nd Avenue. Your cooperation makes a big difference in keeping our parking lot and surrounding roads safe and moving smoothly.
